    • Yea but Yongzheng was a pretty good king, albeit a bit overstrict. Kings have to sacrifice the smaller things and look at the big picture. If he allowed the others to shake his power base thus creating internal strife or an ineffective governememt, or leave everything for a girl, then he will be causing suffering for countless others and even more of a bastard I think.

      Although in this novel alot of his more gruelsome acts are because he was trying to hide the (fictitous) fact that he usurped the throne.

    • the reason why ruoxi decides to stick with the 4th prince is that when she is in danger, his only thought was to safe her. He could have died if the arrow shot him. At least for that instance, he placed ruoxi in front of the throne and his own life. that is what the 8th prince cannot do.

    • The 4th cares about the throne because he is looking at the bigger picture, if he helps Ruoxi now, then he will have destroyed chances of saving the 13th and possibly make the situation worse for Ruoxi,
