  27. While everyone here is spazzing about Gong Xi x Lian, I’m eager to see more of Bu Po Shang in the next episode 😀
    ‘Looking forward to more of Shang realizing his love for Gong Xi’ YES YES YES.
    Strangely enough, for me it’s the ultimate highlight now… I was surprised to learn that there will only be 14 episodes… (Ah, not even 16.)

    SiWon topless  or on heavy black coat^^^&Donnghae in dark  devil dress or white anglewings suit.r .cute
    anaemic director^^in his panic attack creeping like baby versus when hes happy hes jumping swiming,cute
    the..way Wei Xu in Dark Moon frighten her sister..student girls & even her teacher,,,,
    But I think the old scare is alittle bit exaggerated…as if from infected neglected wound..

    • You mean mother to Kyoko *Gong Xi* ?  No.  Nothing like that in the manga.  Anyway, even though, she was a kid then when her mom left her, she would still recognise her.

  51. Can anyone explain to me the what the whole story is behind lian and gong xi when they were little? They always show the scene where little gong xi is by the river/lake and she’s crying and then we would see the blonde guy (which i’m guessing is lian) but he is so old there already.  I am so confused lol and the purple crystal? thanks

    • In the manga, Ren *Lian* met Kyoko *GongXi* when she was very young, the times she went to the river to cry when she was sad or bullied, she met the young Ren *Lian*, who was blonde then since he is a mixed child *half japanese and half ? american?*.  The purple crystal stone was given to her by Corn *young Lian*, telling her that it will help her at times when she is down, if she tells the stone her problems.  Ren *Lian* is a few years older, if I remember correctly, by 4 years.  Ren *LIAN* really looked more mature in the manga, he is maybe 20, Kyoko *GongXi* is 16.  Now, Ren *Lian* as a actor in Japan *manga version*, he dyed his hair and put on brown contact lens to cover his real identity.  He have a dark past during his youth *teens* in America.  That was after he met young Kyoko *Gongxi*, I think.
      If I am wrong *remember it wrongly*, anyone else, please correct me 🙂

    • Gong Xi would run away to cry by herself when she was little.  That’s how she met Lian.  Lian is only half Asian (hence the blonde hair when he was little).  Lian dyed it black when he decided to get into show biz.

      Gong Xi only knew the boy by the river as “Corn”.  She does not recognize Lian is Corn.

      Corn gave that purple rock crystal thing to little Gong Xi telling her that the crystal can absorb human’s unhappiness.  Gong Xi has been treasuring it ever since.

      The boy by the river should have been a BOY, not a teenager or man (i don’t get why they have a grown-up portrait as a boy either).

At that time Lian was there on a vaction/ visit and he helped Gong Xi by cheering her up and spending time with her. The purple crystal is a present that lian gave to gong xi to cheer her up cuz he was leaving. But to gong xi it meant alot more, it the crystal represent the friendship she had with lian as a child and also it helped her overcome her hard time.  The older gong xi doesnt know that the guy she met name Korn is Lian

  61. ahhh lian + gongxi is great, but there is so much tension between shang and gongxi that makes the relationship so much more intense and interesting. i looooove the mv shooting episode so much. ^^ i can see why some ppl ship sho/kyoko.

  71. did you read this original comic? i can not describe the feeling, it is a really really wonderful comic. this drama is good, every characters have their own features. but it still lack of something. this drama compares with the comic just like two girls, they have the same name, the same life, but they have different character, different spirit.

    • To be honest, for anyone that was a HUGE fan of Skip Beat, it would be a bit hard to watch this series unless 1. diehard SJ fans… 2. you pretend it has nothing to do with the original manga.

      For example, I have serious trouble seeing Shiwon as Ren.

      • I am a Skip Beat Fan. I read the manga twice, watched anime etc etc. But I love this drama. I think its because if Ivy Chen. I love her. She portrayed Kyoko in another manner. It was a bit hard to swallow at first, now i think i was just focusing on the drama and slightly ignoring the manga.

        • I want to state first that I’m both a Skip Beat and Ivy Chen fan, but I do have a problem with the adaptation of the manga/anime into live drama. I feel that they added WAY too many exaggerated elements in the drama (that weren’t even in the manga) just to give it an ‘anime’ feel. For example, gongxi’s actions and reactions were just way over the top at times, that it became almost annoying. I don’t think that’s Ivy’s fault, but the script needs to tone it down…

    • you must realize that it is LITERALLY impossible to convey the same expressions/feelings you see in a manga/anime to a live action drama, right? the manga artists have so much more liberty and freedom in their work to draw things that can express exactly what they feel (enlarged eyes, the falling down, chibi characters, etc.) 

      live action characters instead rely on narration and their acting. anything that tries to be like the anime/manga looks over the top. 

      i’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your statement. i love this drama and i looooove ivy chen. i think the characters as portrayed here are great, but i wish they hadn’t tried to put so much anime elements in here. but then, if they didn’t, the manga enthusiasts would probably be up in arms.

      • agreed 🙂 I didn’t have much hopes for this live action especially after they changed the entire main cast *two male leads and female lead*, but after I started watching, I can see it was done quite well.  The replacement actors did quite good as well.  Ivy Chen did a good version of Kyoko.  Anyway, to think of it now, I don’t think Ariel Lin would want to act to cutesy and weird in a drama like a teenager anymore?
